"I was ready to die," the deaf man said, signing passionately. "It was like walking to my death."
As the Columbus Dispatch reports, he was finalkly able to begin his journey to recovery when he joined Deaf Think Positive. Its organizers say it is one of fewer than 10 centers nationwide that provide addiction treatment tailored specifically for the deaf and deaf/blind. And it’s the only one that has licensed chemical-dependency counselors who also are deaf, they say.
