Driver With Bad Eyesight Jailed After Killing 3-Year-Old Girl
A driver in the UK who killed a three-year-old girl weeks after being told to stop driving because of poor eyesight has been jailed for four years, The Telegraph reports.
John Place, 72, who hit Poppy-Arabella Clarke and her mother at a pedestrian crossing, admitted to charges of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.
The 72-year-old was not even wearing his glasses and only stopped when flagged down by another driver.
The child's parents, who are unable to have any more children, are calling for a law that would require medical professionals to report people with impaired vision to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency so that their license can be revoked.
