Navid Azodi and Thomas Pryor have created a pair of smart gloves that can translate American Sign Language (ASL) automatically into text or speech, Mental Floss reports.
The SignAloud gloves use sophisticated sensors to recognize sign-language gestures.
Azodi and Pryor created the prototype in their spare time at school, using tech resources provided by the UW CoMotion MakerSpace, which offers communal equipment for students. They wanted to create a pair of gloves that was also comfortable and lightweight.
