A new analysis shows that older adults who need glasses have a higher risk of dementia, the UK's Daily Mail reports.
Researchers at Stanford University reviewed two trials and found a significant link between vision loss and a decline in cognitive function.
The team analyzed two sets of data: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for the years 1999 through 2002, and the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) for the years 2011 through 2015.
The results of both government-backed studies revealed the 'first evidence' of a link between vision loss and worse cognitive functions, even after scientists adjusted for demographics, health and other factors.
