In the original Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, the main character Quasimodo is deaf.
So it's only fitting that a deaf actor should play the role in the upcoming theater production in Seattle. And that's just what is happening, according to Broadway World.
This summer the 5th Avenue Theatre is staging a new production of play, starring Joshua Castille as Quasimodo. A Deaf actor, Castille is celebrated for his performances in 'Tribes' at ACT Theatre in Seattle and in 'Spring Awakening' with Deaf West on Broadway.
Castille will use American Sign Language (ASL) throughout his performance.
