A series of childhood ear infections slowly eroded her hearing, and by the time she was a college freshman, her world became silent.
But at 27, she can still remember the notes, and she's now a rising star on the jazz scene.
"I understand that my story opens doors and gives people hope," Harvey told the Los Angeles Times. "But for me it's still a wound that I am working to heal. I don't want to be known for my disability."
