Haben Girma, the first deaf-blind student to graduate from Harvard Law School, fights now for better education for deaf-blind people worldwide, BBC News reports.
Girma's mother fled Eritrea in the early 1980s. In the US school system she benefited from accessible technology that wasn't available to her elder brother, also deaf-blind, in Eritrea.
Earlier this year she met President Obama at the White House’s ceremony celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
