Antibiotic drops can save a patient's eyesight by treating infections before the cornea is scarred. But these drops are expensive and not easily unavailable in third-world countries. Dr. Sherwin Isenberg, MD, a researcher at LA BioMed, is part of a team that has come up with a low-cost alternative, Science Daily reports.
Dr. Isenberg has recently published a new study in the American Journal of Ophthalmology that reports that these low-cost drops are just as effective as antibiotics.
