Derrick Coleman wears $12,000 hearing aids protruding from his ears, but he hopes nobody notices, ESPN reports.
Since the age of 3, when he lost his hearing, he's tried to lead a normal life.
He's now 26, and though he reads lips and never takes his hearing aids out unless he’s showering or swimming, Coleman sees himself as just another football player.
"Every now and then, people forget," Coleman told ESPN. "I have friends back home that forget I have hearing aids because at the end of the day, I don’t change myself. Just because I have hearing loss doesn’t mean you have to do anything differently."
