Lizzy suffers from Ushers Syndrome and will eventually lose her vision.
“About five to seven years is our window to get her out and about to see things, especially at night,” Lizzie's father, Steve Myers, told the Mansfield, Ohio News Journal. “Otherwise, it would be too late to do things like this (view the night sky) or catch lightning bugs.” Lizzy already has experienced moderate hearing loss and wears a hearing aid. Her doctors predict that she will start to lose night vision and experience tunnel vision by the time she reaches her teens. She may eventually lose her vision completely.
On a recent visit to Ohio's Warren Rupp Observatory, Lizzie was able to see the ring of Saturn. Her visual bucket list includes the Northern Lights, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and Yellowstone National Park. Read the full story:
