Six years ago Chris and Christina Lee adopted Nitro, a deaf boxer, from the local animal shelter in Salem, Virginia. They knew Nitro was deaf when they got him, but they quickly found out that there weren't many sources of information on how to raise a deaf puppy.
“We went to google,” Chris told WSLS TV. “We started searching and there really wasn’t much information. What was out there was very outdated.”
So the couple created Deaf Dogs Rock, a website for families who have adopted deaf dogs, providing resources, a list of adoptable deaf dogs across the nation and answers to training questions.
