In Peru, 35-year-old Jenny Tenorio Gallegos already has permanent damage to her lungs from drug-resistant tuberculosis. And the antibiotics she's taking to treat the disease make her nauseous, give her headaches, leave her exhausted and are destroying her hearing, National Public Radio's Jason Beaubien reports.
Her doctors say the drugs to cure her of TB could leave her permanently deaf -- but the alternative is worse.
